The leaks about Xiaomi HyperOS 2.0 are already out on the internet. This confirms that Xiaomi has indeed started working on the upcoming version of HyperOS 2.0. The developer testing build is reportedly ready for some selected devices in China as well. We have also covered a comprehensive guide that talks about the expected rollout schedule and a list of eligible devices that will get the HyperOS 2.0 update.

But one common question that remains unanswered for now is the list of devices that are not going to get the update. Therefore, we have compelled a thorough list of devices that won’t be getting the HyperOS 2.0 update and are not officially eligible for it. This list is based on Xiaomi’s previous update track record and its policy. While this list doesn’t 100% confirm to be true, what we can say is that the reliability of this is still very high.

Ineligible Xiaomi Devices for HyperOS 2.0

As reported earlier, the Xiaomi HyperOS 2.0 is going to bring some huge changes to the software. Some of the improved changes are updated icons and animations, better customization across the system and improved overall security. Xiaomi also aims to provide faster updates to all the eligible devices with the HyperOS 2.0. Slower updates were one of the major concerns reported by the users in MIUI and Xiaomi HyperOS 1.0. Xiaomi seems to now getting rid of it.

So this concludes our list of possible Xiaomi devices that won’t be getting any major updates, including the HyperOS 2.0 in the future. This, total of 17 devices are about to be marked EOL (end of life) for the software support and hence, they won’t be getting any more updates. Further, just like the HyperOS 1.0, the 2.0 will be based on both Android 14 and Android 15. So there are very high chances that some devices will still get HyperOS 2.0 but none of them are included in the list.

Ineligible Xiaomi Devices for HyperOS 2.0

Devices running Android 13 and below have officially reached their end of life and hence, they won’t be getting any minor or major updates. HyperOS 1.0 based on Android 13 was the last major update for these devices. These devices may or may not get security updates. If the device comes with 2 years of major updates and 3 years of security updates promise, then there’s no chance of even getting a minor update, let alone the HyperOS 2.0.

Why these devices will not get HyperOS 2.0?

The majority of the devices we have mentioned in the list have already reached their EOL, per the updated policy of Xiaomi that promises to deliver 2 years of major and 3 years of minor updates for the devices. Some devices have the promise of 3 years of major and 4 years of minor updates as well. But since HyperOS 2.0 is going to count as a major update, there are very slim chances that any of the above-mentioned devices will ever get the HyperOS 2.0 update.

Is there any way  I can still install HyperOS 2.0 on my ineligible devices?

There’s no official way to install and run HyperOS 2.0 in these devices as the brand won’t be making any official build for them. However, Xiaomi devices have good development and custom ROM support. If you know how to flash a custom or ported ROM, then you should keep an eye on the channel where the development-related kinds of stuff are discussed about your device. Some devs usually port the HyperOS ROM and make it available for ineligible devices as well. But this method is not recommended for all.

If I get HyperOS 2.0 based on Android 14, will it be different from HyperOS 2.0 running Android 15?

Yes. Since the HyperOS 2.0 based on Android 14 will utilize the code of Android 14 and its base features, it will be different from one running on Android 15. However, all the basic software-related features will be present and only those features that are going to be exclusive to Android 15 will be missed. We will have to wait for an update to come and then we can tell more if the difference is going to be huge or not.
